Tossa de Mar Half Marathon
I had a goal to run three half marathons in 2024. I set out to do the Barcelona Half Marathon(February), Sweden (May), and Copenhagen (September), however, I decided I could not make it to Sweden in May, so I started to look for a half marathon that was near me, perhaps just a short train ride away. In my search, I was lucky enough to find the Run Festival Tossa de Mar. A half-marathon in Costa Brava, perfect! I signed up.
Now, most people might look at the course details before signing up, but not me. I had been to Tossa de Mar several times and only thought about how the scenery was going to be gorgeous! And that’s pretty much all I thought about. Next, I texted my friend to see if she was interested in a little weekend getaway with me. She was in. I booked the hotel, Hotel Windsor and put it on my wall calendar. The second half-marathon for the year was scheduled.
Tossa de Mar is a well-known spot in the Costa Brava. It’s a quaint little, typical Catalan beach town, but especially unique because of the castle that sits right on the cliff of the Mediterranean. It is worth visiting. I’ve been here several times now and have loved it again and again.

So let me be real. And warn you that you should want to do this half-marathon. The elevation gain is no joke. It’s a gorgeous course indeed, I was right about that, but holy hell. I was struggling with parts of this. To be fair to myself, I was not exactly trained or feeling prepared for a normal half-marathon, so the inclines were brutal.
